Interior United Lacrosse proudly marked a major milestone last weekend as the Interior Outlaws travelled to Costa Mesa, California, to compete in the SoCal Winter Sixes Tournament, hosted by Buku Events. January 10 represented the first time the program travelled outside of Canada, offering athletes an unforgettable opportunity to compete internationally in the Olympic format of lacrosse.

Despite the demanding schedule, the athletes rose to the challenge with energy, adaptability, and enthusiasm. Competing in hot California conditions, they embraced the fast pace of Sixes lacrosse, gaining invaluable experience against strong competition while continuing to develop their skills in this dynamic and evolving version of the sport. The team played four high-energy Sixes games in a single day, earning a win in their opening matchup and battling through three closely contested losses, each decided by only a few points.

Beyond the competition, the weekend was filled with memorable moments that made the trip truly special. The team kicked off the experience with a Friday night practice on Newport Beach, providing a stunning and unforgettable backdrop. The players also celebrated a 13th birthday during the tournament, adding to the sense of camaraderie and shared experience that defines the Interior United Lacrosse community.

The entire weekend was a tremendous success, and Interior United Lacrosse is proud of how the Interior Outlaws represented the program, their families, and the Interior lacrosse community. This trip marks an exciting step forward as the program continues to expand access to high-performance lacrosse experiences for athletes beyond traditional boundaries.
